Best Lens for Canon 5D?

Year09

(If you are poor and can only afford ONE lens, in the 1200 and down range...what lens would it be? If you prefer to shoot weddings and/or portraits.)

Answer
Another vote for the 24-70 2.8L. I have personally used this lens for just about any situation you can name. It may not always be PERFECT for every situation, but it is so good at being "nearly" perfect for all uses that it is almost a must have with a 35mm film camera and / or a full frame sensor digital like the 5D.

I only wish Canon would come out with a Image Stabilized version of this lens.

Still, that is my suggestion for you.
