Canon t1i or Canon rebel xs?

canon 75-300mm dslr camera lens review on Home Photography DSLR Cameras Canon EOS Rebel T5i

Alex S

I am getting this as a gift but I'm not sure which one.
Price doesn't worry me because both are on sale at the same price (because it's a boxing day sale)

If I buy the xs it will come with a 18-55mm and a 75-300mm DC Lens.
But if I buy the t1i it comes with a regular 18-55mm but it also shoots video.

And I am stuck on which to buy :/

Thoughts? Opinions? Reviews on the cameras(if you owned one of them)?

Also, this would be my first DSLR camera.

Answer
Get the T1i. The 75-300 that comes with the XS is not a very good lens and is certainly not a reason to get an inferior camera for the same price.

Which camera is better, the Nikon D3100 or the Canon EOS Rebel T3?

I'm trying to decide between these two cameras with links below. I take a lot of photos at children's parties, both outdoor and indoor where there is a lot of action. Can you tell me which you think would be better for that kind of activity while producing clear and sharp images? (Also, is there one that you can make the background more blurry than the other?) I would particularly love to hear from people who have actually used these cameras. Though if you have insight based solely on the specifications listed for the cameras that would help too since I am not all that experienced with dslr cameras. Thank you :)

Answer
There's no doubt that the D3100 is one of the best entry-level SLRs available, offering very good image quality coupled with speedy operation and straightforward handling - at least for conventional eye-level use:

Which camera should I get?

It's black friday tomorrow and there are a lot of deals on cameras.
I wanted to go for the Canon T3 18-55IS DSLR Camera Bundle w/EF 75-300mm Lens and it comes with a gadget bag and 4gb memory card for $500. Theres a huge price difference because it was originally $750
The other option is the Nikon COOLPIX L310 which is for $100.

I really want to be able to take good photos, and I've never taken a photography class (yet), but most of my friends have DSLRs taht take really good photos so yeah. I personally want the Canon, but what do you think? Should I wait until I'm more experienced to get the Canon, and get the Nikon instead?

Answer
It's almost always better to just buy something that's a little over your head then to buy something that's entry level because you'll ALWAYS want to get something better later. Stick with the canon t3 and you won't regret it. Once you get use to the basics of photography, you'll wonder why the t3 was the best decision. Read the reviews from other t3 owners below

http://www.amazon.com/Canon-Rebel-T3-Digital-18-55mm/dp/B004J3Y9U6/?ie=UTF8&tag=utf8qid-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=9325

You can buy the nikon coolpix but it's so limited in possibilities. Your friends can help you out with your new DSLR so that's a win. Canon also has really good customer service. I broke my canon lens and they replaced it without any hassle. The only real hassle was looking for the canon customer service number.

Will this lens fit my Nikon D5000 camera? Need an answer ASAP!!?

Hi guys.

I have an XTI and have two lenses I'm looking at, hoping to buy one.

I'm looking for something with more zoom than my 75-300mm lens I have now. I found 500mm to be the next step up.

I have a Opteka 500mm f/8 Telephoto Mirror Lens for Canon EOS / Canon EF (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000HCNMPQ/ref=ord_cart_shr/103-1628137-2139811?%5Fencoding=UTF8&m=A1P9QRDRYY6FXL&v=glance)

Which looks nice. It has nice reviews and it's quite inexpensive. A big bonus is how small it is! It doens't stick out 2 feet!

The other one in consideration is Opteka 500mm HD Lens for Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT XTi (http://stores.channeladvisor.com/47stphoto/items/item.aspx?itemid=4015373)

This only mentions 500mm, isn't there supposed to be a ###-###mm ratio? It's nice because it's a real lens, not a mirror. Downside is it's MUCH longer in length. It also as f8/-f32 with the OTHER lens only an f8. I don't know what this means.

Only $15 difference. Can I get your thoughts?

Answer
Be aware, both are bargain manual focus lenses. They will give you the extra reach you want, but will not give you the same quality as your Canon 75-300mm. If I could make a suggestion, consider a Canon teleconvertor. It will give you better quality than the Opteka lenses.

The mirror lens requires you use Aperture mode metering, FYI.

The second longer lens is not a zoom, hence no reference to any other focal length other than the 500mm. I've seen Opteka and other companies pair this with a cheap doubler for a 500-1000mm lens, but that's going from bad to worse.

Hope this is helpful.
