Camera Lens ?

Thrillz

I picked up a Vivitar 85-205mm 1:2.8 lens number 22530272
today and i was wonering if they sell a adaptor to convert these old lens
for dslr cams?

I have a sony a100 and i would love to be able to use this lens with it. The zoom on it looks cool and the macro features on it are neat.

I just hope i can get a adaptor to fit it.

If not what camera would it work on?

Answer
Your lens is a manual focus lens. The Sony A100 is an autofocus camera. So, you won't get metering or autofocus.

If the Vivitar is a screw-mount, you might be in luck for a converter/adapter--there are M42 screw mount to Sony/Minolta AF adapters available, even on amazon.com

If the Vivitar lens is any other mount, then you are out of luck. If it is a Minolta MD mount lens, there are Minolta MD to Sony/Minolta AF adapters, but they are of poor quality--they have to add a glass element to get to infinity focus and this greatly degrades image quality. Any other mount--Pentax, Canon, Nikon, etc--and there's no adapter.

You might also want to see this page; this person apparently developed a work-around to allow old Minolta lenses to mount to Sony AF mounts:

Otherwise, to figure out what camera your lens would work on--first figure out the lens mount on the Vivitar and go from there.

DSLR camera lens question?

BabyMama

Im just curious what the 15mm-55mm what that means when looking at lenses? Other numbers too but still.

Also im interested in a cam but it is only a 3x zoom but if you buy the lenses does that add zoom????

Thanks, im new to the SLR cameras.
It was a sony dslr.... with a 15mm 55mm lense.

Answer
its the focal lenght of the lens.
15mm is the distance between the
the image sensor, or film, and the
lens glass. the lower the number,
the wider the lens and the higher
the number, longer the focal lenght
thus the more zoom. if you divide
the 2 numbers you get the zoom
number. 55÷15=3.6 meaning 3x zoom
power. a 18mm-200mm lens has a zoom
power of 11x

Advice on DSLR Camera zoom lens?

riggers

Hello all keen photographers!

I wondered if you'll could answer a few Q's for me..

1) Is this the correct order for the way a camera is built?

a) lens
b) aperture
c) shutter
d) image sensor

2) Nikkor 28mm f/2.8 AF D

what does the 'D' stand for?

3) 18-55mm lens

Is 18mm the distance between the lens and the shutter, or the distance between the lens and the aperture?
Likewise is 55mm the distance between the lens and the shutter, or the distance between the lens and the aperture?

4) If you'll have time and don't mind, could you have a look at some of my flics on 'Flickr'

I'd really appreciate some feedback on my shots. Good feedback, and especially critical feedback. (please leave a comment on each image post)

Lastly, thankyou all so very much for checking out my Q, and thanks in advance for your answers, I really appreciate it!

Riggers..

Answer
What do the letters mean?
G - A new subset of the D-type lenses, without an aperture ring. The aperture is set by a command dial on the camera body.
D - Lens provides distance to subject information to camera; useful for automatic flash setting
ED - Extra low dispersion glass; give superior sharpness and color rendition
IF - Internal focus - the lens does not rotate or extend as it focuses
AF-S - Auto-focus, silent wave focus engine contained inside the lens itself
DX - Lens formatted for digital sensors that should not be used on full frame cameras
VR - Vibration Reduction - a gyroscopic system to detect and correct camera shake to yield sharp images at slower shutter speeds

18mm and 55mm refer to the "focal length" of the lens. If you don't understand that, I suggest that you check out Wiki on the topic, as they will have illustrations to make it clear to you. Scroll down: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Focal_length

I don't understand what you mean in the first question about the order in which a camera is made.

You would do a lot better if this was posted as four separate questions. Some people love giving photo critiques and others enjoy answering technical questions. Asking so many questions in one will chase some potential answerers away.

does this camera have zoom and focus on the lens?

Annie

Does this camera: http://www.amazon.com/Canon-T3i-Digital-Imaging-18-55mm/dp/B004J3V90Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1353693294&sr=8-1&keywords=cannon+t3i

have a lens where you can focus and zoom using the lens? or do you have to get a lens for it.
Thanks!

Answer
It's a DSLR and it comes with a kit lens (18-55mm) which 'zooms' between 18mm (wide angle) and 55mm (normal range).

The lens will autofocus on the camera.

How far does a 18x55mm camera zoom?

best dslr camera zoom lens on ... T3I Digital SLR Camera 18 55mm IS 75 300mm III Lens KIT USA | eBay

I'm looking at a canon t2i dslr camera I've only owned point and shoot my last camera had26x zoom and I'm wondering how much a 18x55mm lens zooms I usually take landscape sunrises &sunsets photos the camera comes with 18x55mm.Wondering if I need to get another lens for these type of shots.

Answer
Zoom doesn't apply to DSLRs. The 18-55 (not 18X55) is fine for portraits and landscapes. For now, just get the 18-55 and use it for a few months. After a few months, you'll have figured out if 1) you want a wider lens - 10-22) 2) you want a lens with more reach - 55-250. When lens shopping, avoid the 75-300 - they're junk

What is the best camera lens for swimming?

Nour

I'm getting my first DSLR camera (Canon Rebel T3i) and i was wondering what lens would be the best for an indoor swimming pool with a not so great light setting. I'm guessing it should have a good enough zoom as well. Thanks in advance :)
Also, if its possible, my budget is around 200-400 dollars. Thanks again.

Answer
Don't go within 20 feet of the water - some kid will see you and think a great game would be to splash water at the guy with the camera! The T3i is not weather sealed so Water plus T3i equals dead camera.

Lowest cost option would be an EFS 55-250 F/4-5.6 IS and crank up the ISO.
Best option would be an EF 70-200 F/2.8 L IS - but that is $1500+
