What is the best lens under 300$ for the Canon 5d?

samanthake

I have the Nikon D90 and I'm switching to the Canon 5d.

What is the best all-around lens for portraits, concerts, cities, basically everything, for under $300?
i'd rather have a canon then nikon due to my family getting discounts on canon cameras(cousin works for them)

Answer
If you are going to the expense of buying a 5D you really ought to be spending more on your glassware. If you really can't afford it, I would suggest paying less for the camera (say a Rebel XTi) and putting your money into your lenses. There really isn't a 'good' all round lens you can get for under $300.
Of course, primes are the best way to go, but if you really want to buy just one good all-rounder, I would suggest something like the 24-70mm f2.8 from Canon: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/559072-USA/Canon__24_70mm_f_2_8L_USM_AF.html

Which Tamron lens would be good for Canon 5D Mark II under $300?

Ess

Well, I want to buy the Mark II because I had a good offer for financing for 2 years - 0 interest for the camera, and I'd be able to afford it. So thanks everyone for a recommendation on the lens!! Not opinion on you shouldn't be getting one.

Answer
Ess,

what is the point of having a 5D Mk II if you are going to degrade the image with a cheap lens?

You are actually better off with a cheaper body and a better lens.

In other words. with the 5D mk II you can make beautiful big enlargements, that with a cheap lens will only show the defects of your lens much more and will make you spend four times the time trying to fix your photos on lightroom/photoshop/...

Save a bit and buy good glass to put in front of the 5D. In the mean time, rent lenses for those special occasions.

lenes whats a good sharp lens for my canon xsi? under $500.?

Q.

Answer
It really depends on what you want to photograph with it. There are many very sharp lenses made by Canon for under $500.

For portraits and the like you can't beat the 50mm F1.4 ($400) or 85mm F1.8 ($400). Even cheaper would be the 50mm F1.8 ($120). All of these are very sharp are great in low light and will give a nice shallow depth of field for portraits.

For sports or something you need a bit more reach with the EFs 55-250mm IS is a very good lens. Cost is $250.

The link below has Canon lenses between $300 and $500. They are all good sharp lenses.

What is a good lens for my Canon Rebel?

Q. I am looking for a lens for my Canon Rebel T3i. I do a lot of action photography of horses jumping outdoors and indoors. (With indoors, I use a flash). I need something telephoto with clear, professional, quality. I plan to do photography at shows--both big and small--and make a profit on the photos. Any ideas? Thank you!
So far, my #1 choice is the EF 70-200 f/2.8 L IS USM.

Answer
The Canon EF 70-300 mm lens is perfect for what you want to do unless if you are shooting under the lights or indoors. Then you will need an EF 300 mm f/2.8

You may want to check with the equine venue to see if you can even use flash... Shooting from fifty feet away from the action pretty much makes flash worthless

HD Camcorders and DSLR Cameras interpolate the video, which means of every 25 frames of video, 4 or 5 frames are taken by the lens assembly; the other frames in between these are filled in by the camcorder inner circuitry, thus giving you not true video. It looks like this -one frame from the lens assembly, 7or 8 from the electronic circuitry, one frame from the lens assembly, 7or 8 from the electronic circuitry, one frame from the lens assembly, 7or 8 from the electronic circuitry, one frame from the lens assembly, 7or 8 from the electronic circuitry, from front to back of the video. Near impossible to edit, even when you have the Multi port processor computer with the big 1GB Graphics card and a Sound card that is required to edit, view, watch and work with the files these camcorders produce.

DSLR Cameras, all Makes, all Models, all have the same problem when video taping some long videos, all overheat at the 13 to 18 minute mark, depending on the Make and Model. This is unavoidable, it all has to with the fact, video is an afterthought in DSLR camera production.

Consumer Level HD Camcorders and DSLR Cameras have 4 problems. 1) Blurry, fuzzy, out of focus areas closely around people in videos taken by consumer level HD camcorders. 2) Any movement, even a wave or lifting an arm, while in front of a recording Consumer Level HD Camcorder and DSLR Cameras, results in screen ghosts and artifacts being left on the video track, following the movement. Makes for bad video, sports videos are unwatchable. 3) These Consumer Level HD Camcorders and DSLR Cameras all have a habit of the transferred to computer files are something you need to convert, thus losing your HD quality, to work with your editing software. 4) Mandatory maximum record times - 1 hour, 30 minutes, 8 minutes, 3 minutes â four different times advertised as maximum record time for some Consumer Level HD Camcorders and DSLR Cameras. No event I have ever been to is that short. Either take multiple camcorders and DSLR Cameras or pack up with out getting the end of the event on video.

MiniDV is currently the most popular format for consumer digital camcorders. MiniDV camcorders are typically more affordable than their HDD and DVD counterparts. Each MiniDV tape will typically hold an hour of footage at normal recording speed and quality. MiniDV tapes are available for purchase at not only electronic and camera stores, but also at drugs stores and grocery stores, making them easy to find while your on vacation. There are literally hundreds of MiniDV camcorders available; both in standard and high-definition. And add the fact that to get a HD camcorder that could produce better video quality footage, one would have to spend in excess of $3500 for that camcorder that could produce higher quality video

I have a canon EOS 450D with kit lens and would like to buy a zoom lens for it?

George.sch

I was wondering, what is the best quality but still affordable lens to purchase for an amateur. Preferably under £300.

Thanks!

Answer
When I bought my first DSLR, I bought a number of ordinary lenses with it. Didn't take me long to get "lens envy", i.e. I learned they weren't good enough and eventually I replaced several with top quality L lenses.

In hindsight, I wish I had saved up longer and got the good stuff right away, instead of wasting money on the others.

Just some food for thought - I know how hard it is to have to wait longer :-(

I need one that's under $300 . I'm not trying to record perfect Taylor Swift or Lil Wayne videos. I'm an underground rapper just wanting to make videos to go with my songs.

What is a good camera for a amatuer photographer?

Boo!!!!

I enjoy photography and i want to get a decent DSLR camera. If you could recommend one that is of a decent quality and under £300 that would be awesome!

thanks!

Answer
There are plenty of decent DSLR cameras costing under 300 pounds. These from Canon, Nikon and Sony have picture quality equal to their profesional, more expensive family.

First, there is the wonderful Nikon D40 with a zoom lens, selling at 245 pounds on Amazon.com.uk
The advantage of the D40 is you have the Nikkor zoom lens and you would be able in the future to buy other Nikkor lens. (Amazon has many reviews of people who bought it, mostly 5 stars.)

Next is the nice looking Sony DSLR-A200K also selling for 245 pounds on Amazon.com.uk

Finally, the Canon eos 300D DSLR is selling for 285 pounds on ebay.uk
