I'm in love with this camera, but I need to know a little bit more about it.
-how to get pictures developed
-is it a good camera overall

Canon is a very good company, they make a good product. 35mm cameras are relatively small (for film cameras) and easy to use, and SLRs are especially nice. A 50mm F/1.8 lens is just your normal lens. It would be nice to have a zoom lens. You probably could find one not too expensive since film cameras are on the way out.

The AE-1 was made from 1976 to 1984, and it was extremely popular, selling over 5 million cameras. It was the first 35mm camera with a microprocessor in it! It has modes for full auto exposure, or shutter or aperture priority, so you have the widest range of possibilities for 'creative control'.

If you're not into photography already, you will need to learn how shutter speeds and apertures interact, how to use them. You can learn this better on a 35mm camera than a digital camera. This allows you to control focus (depth of field) and also motion blur, which is a good thing for a photographer to master.

If the camera hasn't been abused, if everything works okay, then it's a good camera, and will last a long time. Open the back and hold it up to the light and snap the shutter several times at various speeds. You'll see the shutter open and close, and you can get an idea of how consistently it works. If the shutter seems to be hanging up, or it makes funny noises, that's not good.

You can get pictures developed anywhere, supermarkets, drugstores, etc. If you want to really get into it, you can develop them yourself. I used to do that. There are also 'custom labs' that professionals use that develop and print much better, but cost a lot more. Or you can get a 'film scanner', a gizmo you run your negatives through and it turns them into very high quality digital pictures that can then be edited with Photoshop or some similar software.

if you're going to mount it in a canon digital camera, it would.
It actually depends on how old the lens is.
Canon EF lenses made since 1987 for Canon EOS bodies will fit the new Canon EOS digital bodies.
The older FD lenses (before 1987) will not fit Canon EOS bodies, film or digital.

No. The old Canon FD and the current EF are completely different lens mounts.
You could *make* your FD lens fit with an adapter, but these are more trouble than they're worth.

Yeah, I could have been more specific. Here goes:
None of (Canon's) digital SLRs have a split prism viewfinder to assist manual focusing; metering becomes a wee bit problematic; you lose infinity focus; any glass elements in the adapter will degrade your image quality; and for the privilege of using your old lens in this contorted manner you'll have to shell out roughly $50.
So there's that... or you could get a brand new Canon 50mm f/1.8 EF auto-focus lens for $90 retail or $70 used.
I'm happy for your own success with adapters but they are *not* for everyone.

Will a 90's era Canon lens work on my 350D?

I really want to buy a lens, however i don't have cash for a new one. i was offered a 28-135mm canon lens but the seller said it was 90's era. will this fit the mount on my 350d? And if there are, are there Sigma or Tamron lenses that are 28-135mm? please include links if you can...thank you!

When Canon introduced the EOS autofocus 35mm SLR camera line in 1987 they changed their lens mount. Canon SLR cameras prior to 1987 used the FD mount. If the lens you've been offered was used on an EOS camera then it will work with your Canon 350D.

Canon Lens?

Q. I have a Rokinon lens from my 22 year old Minolta 35mm camera. I was wondering if this lens would fit my new Canon Eos 50, 35mm. Does anyone know, or know how I can find out? Or know of anywhere I can buy a a really cheap lens for my Canon? Thank You

No.

Minolta lenses only fit minolta. Canon use a different mounting sistem.

Only Pentax uses a k-mount system that is shared by some other brands like Richo and Vivitar.

Your EOS 50 uses "Canon EF lens mount" so any new nautofocus canon lens will fit ok (lenses from digital Canon will not fit). Used lenses are cheaper but you need to check for mold inside the inner lenses.

Canon lenses are divided by quality ("Ultrasonic" are the fastes, and best canon lenses they are also much more expensive, they are also very quiet; " II " are good and with fast autofocus but no so expensive, " III " are cheaper but slow in autofocus).

Somtimes at Wallmart or Sams you can find the III cheaper canon lenses. You can also try your local camera store, or repair shop for a used lens but be careful because some rat-salepeople always try to sell you lenses with mold or scratches.

What to look for when buying a used Canon 300d?

I am planning on buying a used Canon 300d, for 300 bucks!
It includes:
its case
A Battery Grip
Two battery's
a Filter
A Remote Control
A connection to connect to your computer
And an extra lens (35mm-80mm)

So my question is; should i buy it, is that a good offer? And what details shoould i look for?

I think you are getting basically everything that comes with the camera when bought new and in fact a few extras like the 2nd battery and a filter.

For $300, it seems to be an ok deal, but for not much more you can have a newer model Canon DSLR with more megapixels. The 300D is 6MP and the first generation Canon Rebel Digital, the Canon Digital Rebel XTi listed in the link below is 10MP and the 3rd generation Canon Digital Rebel. Are there any Canon 35mm film cameras that are compatible with EF-S lenses?

I am looking to buy a Canon 35mm film camera having never bought one before.

I know for a fact that several cameras are compatible with the EF lenses - of which I own the 50mm f/1.8.

However, I also have the EF-S 18-55mm and the 50-250mm, and would like to use them on the film camera itself.

Unfortunately, the EF-s lenses cannot be used safely on the 35mm film or full-frame digital cameras. The back of the EF-s lenses extends too far into the mirror box and will damage the mirror. Your EF 50mm f/1.8 however, is a standard EF rather than EF-s lens and will work on both a Canon EOS 35mm film camera and any digital EOS digital camera like yours.
