Camera suggestion.??? Nikon d5100?

I would like to buy Nikon dslr camera and the model is d5100....can I buy this model or wait for any other models from Nikon....
Is d5100 worth of buying? Suggestion plz

As a long-time owner of the Nikon D5000, and former owner of the Nikon D60, I purchase the D5100. The 18-55VR (3x) f3.5-f5.6 kit lens provides surprisingly good performance and image quality, although you'll likely outgrow it quickly. Low-light performance is outstanding with this camera, and the level of detail captured by the D5100 is excellent, even at higher ISOs. You're best capturing in RAW or RAW+JPEG mode. Nikon also offers "Active D-Lighting" which is a highly effective method for improving dynamic range of a photo to equalize the difference between high and low-light areas of a photo.

Sigma lens for Nikon d5100?

I was wondering how the Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 SLD DG Macro Lens fits the d5100? And if it does, how does it cooporate with the camera?
Last, is it a good lens? Any downsides with it?

Sure it will fit if you get the Nikon model.

It will not autofocus on that camera.

Sigma calls lenses that have a built-in focus motor (like Nikon AF-S) HSM. If the lens doesn't have HSM in the name, it won't AF on your camera. Everything else does work properly.

The APO version of the lens is the best (cheap) 70-300 on the market. Better than the Nikon or Canon low end models.

This is a loaded question. Technically, the $18,000 Nikon AF-S 800mm f/5.6 lens will work on your camera.

However, if you are like most people that buy an entry-level Nikon such as the D5100, you are probably looking at moderate consumer-grade telephoto zoom lenses.

In that category, two great choices for inexpensive lenses are the Nikon AF-S 55-200mm f/4~5.6 vR and Nikon AF-S 55-300mm f/4.5~5.6 VR. Of the two, it is my opinion that the 55-200mm lens is better quality - it has an internal focus mechanism, which is an upgraded feature that the 55-300mm lens lacks.

The 55-300mm lens barrel rotates during focusing, which means it is harder to use a polarizer filter, whereas the 55-200mm lens, with it's superior internal focusing does not rotate the lens barrel to focus.

Nikon also makes a non-VR (vibration reduction) version of the 55-200mm lens, but I would skip that one.

If you want the 300mm reach, then consider the Nikon AF-S 70-300mm f/r4.5~5.6. Like the 55-200mm, it also has internal focusing, and also has a focusing clutch (meaning you can manually fine focus the lens in auto-focus mode).

If you compare lenses, the 70-300mm has a "M/A-M" switch, whereas the 55-200mm and 55-300mm lenses only have "M-A" switches. The 70-300mm lens also has ED glass, which is also an upgrade.

I bought my 70-300mm as a refurbished lens for under $400, which is a very good discount from the almost $600 retail price.

hey, I just recently got a nikon d5100. im new to DSLR's and I had a few questions. One is can I use any Lens on this camera? because I understand that the motor is in the Lens. If not can anyone give me a place where there is a list of lenses that are compatible? and my final question is, how do you set the ISO on it?

Although there are some limitations any Nikon "F" mount lens made since 1959 can be used on your Nikon D5100. Here is a complete list of lens compatibility:

Which camera Cannon t3i or Nikon D5100?

Q. Which one would you suggest for somebody that's never used a DSLR Camera?? I have two toddlers and we all know how quick they are so I need one that I can get good shots of them that aren't blurry of course. I'm going to get the extra 55-200 lens with it too

If you got any others in mind my price range is 1,100 and under

Nikon 60mm F/2.8 or the Nikon 85mm?

Both lenses are incredibly sharp. The 85mm gives you a bit more working distance which is nice if you shoot bugs. The 60 is a bit faster, f2/8 versus 3.5 and the focal length works better for portraits.

If you have a baby nikon, d3000, d3100 or something like that then do take care that you get the 60mm f2.8 AF-S, the older AF-D will not autofocus
